These pieces are then arranged aesthetically on a base cloth and stitched using techniques like buttonhole stitch, chain stitch, and mirror work. The entire process is done by hand, and crafting a large Chandua can take several weeks.

During Puri Rath Yatra, the massive umbrellas and canopies atop the three chariots are made in Pipli. Separate coloured Chanduas are crafted for the chariots of Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra.
