Located in the hilly region of Koraput district, it is part of the Eastern Ghats mountain range and is also known as Dandia Mali hill.

During winter, clouds descend below the peak and frost forms on the grass. In monsoon, the entire landscape turns lush green. The area is home to rare flora and fauna including wild buffalo, elephants, and diverse bird species.

The trek offers panoramic views of the Eastern Ghats. Sunrise and sunset from the summit are particularly spectacular. Nearby attractions include Duduma Waterfall, Gupteshwar Cave, and Hatimunda Waterfall.

The name “Deomali” comes from the local tribal language — “Deo” means god and “Mali” means hill, literally “Hill of the Gods.” The tribes consider this mountain sacred.
