ପଟଚିତ୍ର ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ସବୁଠାରୁ ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଓ ଜୀବନ୍ତ କଳା ଶୈଳୀ। “ପଟ” ମାନେ କପଡ଼ା ଓ “ଚିତ୍ର” ମାନେ ଛବି। ପୁରୀ ଜିଲ୍ଲାର ରଘୁରାଜପୁର ଗାଁ ଏହି କଳାର ଜନ୍ମସ୍ଥାନ। ଏଠାରେ ପ୍ରତି ଘରେ ଚିତ୍ରକର ଅଛନ୍ତି — ପିଢ଼ି ପରମ୍ପରାରୁ ଏହି କଳା ଚାଲି ଆସୁଛି।Pattachitra is Odisha’s oldest and most vibrant art form. “Pata” means cloth and “Chitra” means picture. Raghurajpur village in Puri district is the birthplace of this art. Every household has a painter — the tradition continues through generations.
ପଟଚିତ୍ର ଶୈଳୀ ଓ କୌଶଳStyle and Technique
ପଟଚିତ୍ର ତିଆରି କରିବା ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରଥମେ ଗାଦା କପଡ଼ାରେ ଚିକ୍କଣ ମାଟି ଲାଗେଇ ଶୁକାଇବାଯାଏ। ତା’ ପରେ ପ୍ରାକୃତିକ ରଙ୍ଗ — ଧଳା (ଶଙ୍ଖ), ଲାଲ, ହଳଦା, କଳା — ବ୍ୟବହାର କରାଯାଏ। ଚିତ୍ରର ବାଡ଼ ଫୁଲ, ଲତା ଓ ଜ୍ୟାମିତିକ ପଦାର୍ଥରେ ଭରାଯାଏ।Cloth is prepared with fine clay, dried, then painted with natural colors — white (conch shell), red, yellow, black. Borders are filled with flowers, vines, and geometric patterns.

ପଟଚିତ୍ରରେ ମୁଖ୍ୟତଃ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ଓ ବୈଷ୍ଣବ ପରମ୍ପରା, ରାମାୟଣ, ମହାଭାରତ, ଦଶାବତାର, ରାଧା-କୃଷ୍ଣ ଓ ଲୋକକଥା ଚିତ୍ରିତ ହୁଏ। ତ୍ରିଭଙ୍ଗ (tribhangi) ଭଙ୍ଗି — ତିନି ଭାଗରେ ଶରୀର ବଙ୍କା — ଏହା ପଟଚିତ୍ରର ବିଶେଷତା।Primarily Jagannath and Vaishnava traditions, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Dasavatara, Radha-Krishna, and folk tales. The tribhangi posture (three bends of the body) is a signature feature.

ରଘୁରାଜପୁର ପୁରୀଠାରୁ ୧୨ କି.ମି ଦୂରରେ ଅବସ୍ଥିତ। ଏହାକୁ UNESCO ହେରିଟେଜ ଭିଲେଜ ଘୋଷଣା କରାଯାଇଛି। ଏଠାରେ ୧୦୦+ ପରିବାର ପଟଚିତ୍ର କଳା ସହ ଜଡ଼ିତ। ଗୋଟିପୁଆ ନୃତ୍ୟ ମଧ୍ୟ ଏଠାରେ ଜନ୍ମିଛି। ପର୍ଯ୍ୟଟକମାନେ ଚିତ୍ରକରମାନଙ୍କୁ କାମ କରୁଥିବା ଦେଖିପାରନ୍ତି ଓ କିଣିପାରନ୍ତି।Raghurajpur, 12 km from Puri, is a UNESCO Heritage Village. 100+ families practice Pattachitra. Also the birthplace of Gotipua dance. Visitors can watch artists work and purchase art directly.
